We have a deal (but what kind of deal)?

Some voices are standing opposite to what the media was collaborating today. The Green politician Hermann Ott told the German newspaper “Taz” that a political binding agreement was already hammered out between the USA and China. Supposedly, 24% will be the amount that developed countries want to mitigate until 2020 – calculating the loopholes this [...]

Tuvalu rockz the COP – but does it help?

Right now, the negotiations within the CMP in the main plenary are stopped again and a small group of people is meeting in one corner of the room to find agreemend under the guidance of Connie Hedegaard, the COP-President. Tuvalu seemed to have insisted on its proposal to first deal with what kind of outcome [...]

Danish surprise

Denmark ist a small but very rich country in the North of Europe. It is known for Hans-Christian Andersen and his Little Mermaid and a lot of Wind Power. And the danish Capital is host to the biggest UN-Conference ever, COP15! Thus, Denmark has a unique responsibility as host and – in the person of [...]

Unity is fragile within the G-77

interesting Blog on the COP15.dk-Website. What interests me most: why is the official hosting-side posting news on problems within other negotiation-groups? sounds strange to me!

The United Kingdom’s emissions are dropping year by year. China has committed $600 billion into green technology. There were 100 passionate [...]

World leaders might miss C(limate)-Day…

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk pledged to attend the COP 15 summit in Copenhagen in December personally after Greenpeace kicked off a big campaign aimed at World leaders. The Campaign lobbies for the head of states to come to Copenhagen and Tusks coming is now celebrated by Greenpeace.
I find it frightening that leaders have to [...]

FINALLY: Copenhagen Climate Treaty out!

Download here the new “Copenhagen Climate Treaty”.
The only downside to this, it is not (yet) adopted by any legal body yet any country delegation. It is a proposal by 50 NGOs. The good thing: they made a legal text out of it as well and advice the delegations to “Copy&Paste” it into their proposals.
Way to [...]
