Climate Justice Action is born!

Just clowning around? Climate Justice needs more radical Action!

Just clowning around? Climate Justice needs more radical Action!

A new movement has entered the stage of global climate policy. While established networks like CAN (Climate Action Netork) and its leftish counterpart CJN! (Climate Justice Now) try to make big lobbying at the COP-meetings, the new network of CLIMATE JUSTICE ACTION tries to bring together a variety of small to middle-sized movements and organizations among them Accion Ecologica [Südamerika], Atmospheric Disorder [Hamburg/Deutschland], Attac, BUKO [Deutschland], European Social Forum, Friends of the Earth, Gegenstrom [Berlin/Deutschland], Global Justice Ecology Project [USA], Global Young Greens, Greenpeace [Finnland], Grüne Jugend [Deutschland], KlimaX [Dänemark, Schweden], Oxfam [UK], my favorites from Plane Stupid [UK], Rising Tide [Deutschland, UK], Socialistic Youth Front [Dänemark]
Via Campesina [Deutschland], Zero Carbon Caravan [UK] and 350.org [USA] and many more…

Here are the goals of the new network:

Full Version (in bold the things I find most challenging about the new network):

1) To promote and strengthen the rights and voices of Indigenous and affected peoples (including workers) in confronting the climate crisis.  To support reparations and the repayment of ecological debt to the Global South by industrialized rich countries.

2) To build a global movement for climate justice that encourages urgent action to avoid catastrophic climate change.

3) To highlight the critical role of biodiversity in weathering the climate crisis, and to defend the existence of all species.

4) To expose the roles of false and market-based climate „solutions“ as well as corporate domination of climate negotiations in worsening the climate crisis.

5) To advance alternatives that can provide real and just solutions to the climate crisis.

6) To both sharpen our understanding of, and to address, the root social, ecological, political and economic causes of the climate crisis toward a total systemic transformation of our society.

or to put it more comprised:

1) To promote and strengthen the rights and voices of Indigenous and affected peoples (including workers), and to support reparations and the repayment of ecological debt to the Global South by industrialized rich countries.

2) To build a global movement for climate justice that encourages urgent action to avoid catastrophic climate change, and which addresses the root social, ecological, political and economic causes of the climate crisis toward a total systemic transformation of our society.

3) To expose the roles of false and market-based climate „solutions“ as well as corporate domination of climate negotiations in worsening the climate crisis, while advancing alternatives that can provide real and just solutions and which protect biodiversity.
