World leaders might miss C(limate)-Day…
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk pledged to attend the COP 15 summit in Copenhagen in December personally after Greenpeace kicked off a big campaign aimed at World leaders. The Campaign lobbies for the head of states to come to Copenhagen and Tusks coming is now celebrated by Greenpeace.
I find it frightening that leaders have to be convinced to come to Copenhagen and save the world. They are the only ones who (democratically) got the mandate to make a climate deal possible. Their negotiators – even though being way more informed on the matter – are always bound to what „the boss“ in Washingotn or Berlin is saying.
I don’t urge leaders to come to Copenhagen – I promise them outrage if they don’t. Whoever of the responsible persons not showing up at COP15 is not worth anything as a politician! COP15 is way to important to miss: for politicians and for civil society to show up for protests.
